Robert “Bob” Lee Weagly Jr of Chambersburg PA passed away on August 4th, 2016 at his home. He was born on November 8, 1949 to the late Betty Diehl Weagly & Robert Weagly Sr.
Bob is survived by his wife Jamie Eason Weagly, son Dylan Weagly (wife Erin) of Mount Joy PA, step-son Erik Faust (wife Jennifer) of Goffstown NH, step-son Kevin Faust of Chambersburg PA, Grandsons Connor & Landon Weagly of Mount Joy PA, Brother David Weagly (wife Gloria) of Shippensburg PA, Nephew Matthew Weagly (wife Jennifer) of Chambersburg PA, and cousin Jan Weagly of Chambersburg PA. He is preceded in death by his mother Betty Diehl Weagly, father Robert Weagly Sr, and aunt Jean Weagly.
Bob spent most of his life as a musician. He was an advanced trumpet player even as a teenager and earned many opportunities to perform in select musical groups, such as the Phil Young Orchestra. Through the years he shared his talents & knowledge as a musical consultant. He worked locally with the Greencastle Antrim H.S. marching band, James Buchanan H.S. marching band, Chambersburg Montessori, plus many regional drum corps & majorette troupes. He also played in many local bands, most recently the Mercersburg Area Community Band. One of the highlights of his career was the time he spent as an instructor in the 1970’s with the Troopers Drum & Bugle Corp of Casper Wyoming. In later years he enjoyed consulting within the DCI community. Then for nearly the past 15 years he owned a music store and taught music lessons in the Chambersburg area.
Bob will be missed by many, while he always had a tough exterior, he also had a strong Christian faith and a huge passion for helping people in need. He spent time teaching children with special needs how to play an instrument, helping people lost in drug addiction find the path to recovery, or simply lending an ear and giving advice to a friend or family member.
Bob recently wrote, in his own words “I say that the lesson death teaches us, is to make the most of every minute and of every human interaction given to us. Even with all of our knowledge, we still do not know what this thing called life is. Yet, we do know that each of us has the power to shape it. Use your power to its best, for that is all one can do. Celebrate life and one another. I wish peace, love, and happiness to all.”
In the true spirit of Bob, his family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Teen Challenge International (a faith-based addiction treatment center in Rehrersburg PA) to help other people in need. These donations can be made by visiting https://www.paatc.org. Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.
Dear Family of (BOB) as we knew him.
So sorry to hear of the passing of your loved one. We knew him many years ago, when he help with our Majorette and Drum Corp, (The Marching Raiders of Shippensburg) It was his and R Chaslick's music that was played by the corp. It was music that won parades and prizes for the group, but also keep them coming back to learn more. There were many young lives affected by the patience of his that, never seemed to run out. Like many of those young people we have lost contact with people like Bob. As our lives change and we all move on. the memories and the influence of old friends stay with us, and I'm sure you or I will never know all of those who's lives are better because they met him even for a short time. May God be with you in your grief and time of healing. God claimed one of the best to play his music in a better place, when he called him home.
Long ago friends with heartfelt memories

My deepest sympathies to Bob's Family! I knew Bob from high school in the Trojan Band. We both played trumpet. In recent years I would see him once in awhile at Sheetz on L.W.E. We would stop and chat for awhile about old times in the Trojan Band. Will miss seeing his friendly smile.
I am so sorry for your loss. My heart too is heavy with sadness. A good friend is gone. Bob touched the lives of three generations in my family. I know he touched many, many more lives. Whether having a lesson, jamming out or just talking, I enjoyed each visit with him. I have so many wonderful memories. He brought out the gift of music in me for which I am forever grateful. May God’s comfort and grace be with you during your time of grief. Every time I play guitar I will think of Bob.
Sincere sympathy to the family in the passing of Rob. Worked on many of his and Dylan's vehicles and spent many hours practicing the enrollment ceremony for the Moose. He will be
missed by many.
Bob was an excellent trumpet player as a member of the CASHS Band and then continued as a life-long friend to talk about bands, drum corps, and music in general. Its' always tough to hear of the death of former students. I will always remember Bob with fondness. Go in peace!
My deepest condolences to all of Bob's family, Bob was a great teacher, friend and for my daughter a second grandfather. He instilled in Taylor the love for music the will forever live on and for that I am forever in his debt. For me, a friend to a new person in town, a fellow veteran with whom I swapped war stories. We adored you Bob and your passing has left a whole in our hearts. You will be missed my friend, thank you for brining the music into our house and our hearts! Tammy and Taylor
My sincerest, heartfelt condolences to Jamie & family, as well as everyone whose lives were touched by Bob's presence here among us. My son, Cullen, myself, & my family only knew Bob for about the last 2 years, but those 2 years left such an impact on us, that I cry as I type this. Bob was willing to start teaching Cullen to play guitar, drums, keyboard, & even a little violin, at only age 6. He inspired me to start playing saxophone again after 15 years, helped me get a saxophone, & now I am playing with the Shippensburg Town Band & the Shippensburg Swing Band--all because of him. He always had a joke or story to share, & became someone that we could talk to, confide in, or ask honest advice from. We truly came to view Bob as "framily," a friend who had become family, & loved him very much. Life will not be the same without him.
When I was little I always wanted to play guitar, I eventually got a little guitar that I could play for fun for Christmas and I always played it. One day me and my family decided that I would take guitar lessons and bob was the only teacher that would allow me to learn at such a young age and he always encouraged me to do my best. I will always remember bob as an adult to look up too and as an outstanding music teacher to not only me, but all kids that had the chance to meet him.
I think I laughed more and dreamed more with Bob than with any other friend. He was always positive and ready for the next adventure. One of my favorite computer buddies.
